Artist in Residence Joe Buchanan

In February, we will welcome our Artist-in-Residence, Joe Buchanan to Temple Sinai. Rabbi Shields notes that he connected for the first time with Joe in 2009 through the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. His shul was one of Buchanan’s first gigs and he found in Joe a kindred spirit. Our wonderful Cantorial Soloist, Ruthie Lipshulch, met Joe this past year at a musical conference. Their shared appreciation of this phenomenal musician, but importantly Mensch, led to him joining us at Sinai the weekend of February 23-25. As he is described on his website, Joe’s music is “grounded in the idea that there is always room at the table.” We each in our own way, as Joe writes, “highlight the values, Torah, and history of the Jewish people to deliver stories steeped in the struggle and triumph of the human spirit, all while praising God for the goodness in life.” There will be a number of opportunities over the course of the weekend and we encourage you to come to as many as you can. Take a cruise through his website: joebuchananmusic.com.
